UMPD Arrest Thief Again, This Time With Bait Bike

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota Police nabbed a bike thief with the help of a GPS-enabled bait bicycle, and it was not the first time they arrested the man.

The theft happened last Thursday near Como Avenue Southeast and 27th Avenue Southeast. Footage shows the thief approach the bike, look around and then quickly cut the lock.

The Public Safety Emergency Communication Center tracked the bike with GPS, and officers soon found the thief – who was wearing a backpack full of tools.

UMPD had previously arrested the man on June 1 in front of the University Office Plaza near TCF Bank Stadium, where he was stealing a dolly used to move bike racks.

Minneapolis Police assisted in Thursday's arrest.
