Police Investigating After U Student Assaulted Near Campus

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis police are investigating after a weekend assault on a University of Minnesota student near campus.

University officials say the assault happened around 4 a.m. Saturday morning near the intersection of Huron Boulevard and Delaware Street Southeast.

The victim reported waiting at the Stadium Village LRT Station when the suspect approached her. The man made small talk and followed the victim as she walked home.

When the victim reached the parking lot of her apartment building, the suspect threw her to the ground and began punching her.

The victim fought back, and the suspect fled.

The suspect is described as standing about 5-feet, 10-inches tall, with a medium build and short black hair.

The victim reported that the suspect described himself as being half Korean, half black.
