'U' Police: Woman Robbed Outside Campus Building

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University Of Minnesota police say a woman was robbed outside of an East Bank campus building early Saturday morning.

The robbery happened at about 2:20 a.m. on the steps outside of Wulling Hall, at 88 Pleasant Street South East in Minneapolis.

A woman, who is not a student, told police three young men approached her and asked to use her cellphone.

She refused, and one of them then took her purse and demanded her phone. All three fled when she told them she was calling 911. She was not hurt in the encounter.

The victim says the three suspects were black males, all of whom were about 17 years old and spoke with accents.

The suspect who took her purse was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and another suspect was wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt and had curly black hair. She was unable to provide a description of the third male.
