U Of St. Thomas: Armed Suspect Robs Female Student

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of St. Thomas' Department of Public Safety says an armed suspect robbed a female student late Tuesday evening.

At around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, the student was walking westbound on Grand Avenue when she encountered the unidentified suspect, who was walking northbound on Finn Street. The suspect then stopped the student at the intersection and brandished a small handgun.

After demanding money, the suspect took the victim's phone and purse. The suspect then turned and walked south on Finn Street, then broke into a run and fled the area.

The suspect has been described as a 6-foot black male with black hair with twists, no facial hair and wearing a black or gray sweatshirt.

The St. Paul Police Department is now investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Paul police at 651-291-1111.
