U of M Hosts 3rd Annual State Robotics Competition
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – State tournament time always brings out the best in high school competition.
However, on Saturday robots rather than athletes created the edge-of-your-seat drama.
The third annual state robotics competition took place at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.
Thirty different schools wanted to prove they have the top robot in the state.
The students are given a certain time frame to build the robot, and building a functioning robot is no easy task.
"We get six weeks to build the robot and so, like, during those six weeks it's pure dedication; staying after school, late nights. I mean, especially at end you really have to cram to get it all done," Matt Sondrol of Irondale High School said.
Teams worked to build a model that can push or throw large beach balls during a competition.
