U Of M Gets $25K Grant To Fund Beekeeping Team

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has awarded nearly $110,000 in grants for five honey bee projects.

The largest grant is nearly $27,000 to the North Dakota Beekeeper's Association for promotion, outreach and education.

The other four grants focus on researching honey bee health issues, including a nearly $25,000 award to the University of Minnesota to develop a transfer team program for the commercial beekeeping industry.

Funding for the honey bee research grants was appropriated by the North Dakota Legislature and through honey assessments.
