Tyus Jones Named NBA Summer League MVP

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Ahead of playing for the NBA Summer League title Monday night, Tyus Jones was named the MVP of the league.

Jones has seen significant playing time since top draft choice Kris Dunn has been out with concussion symptoms. The Timberwolves lost all three of their guaranteed Summer League games and entered bracket play as the last seed among the 24 teams.

Jones, an Apple Valley native, has led the Timberwolves to four straight wins as they face the Chicago Bulls Monday night for the title. In seven games in Las Vegas, Jones is averaging 19.4 points per game while shooting better than 45 percent from the field. He is also averaging 6.3 assists, four rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

Jones led the Timberwolves Sunday with 29 points on 9-of-17 shooting as they came back from an early deficit to beat the Phoenix Suns 93-83.
