Twins Name Thad Levine New Senior Vice President, GM

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Twins named Thursday the organization's new senior vice president and general manager.

Thad Levine, formerly the assistant general manager of the Texas Rangers, was tapped to lead the struggling team. In July, Terry Ryan, the Twins' longtime general manager, was let go after the team suffered a disastrous 0-9 start to the season.

"Thad's leadership and management experiences across all facets of baseball operations make him the perfect fit for the role, and I'm looking forward to executing our vision together," said Twins EVP/Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey, in a statement.

Levine, 44, helped lead the Rangers for a decade. Before working in Texas, he was with the Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In a statement, Levine, of Alexandra, Virginia, said that he's inspired to work for the Twins, calling the franchise "one of the best in professional sports" and praising the leadership of the Pohlad family.
