Twins Take On Tigers In Detroit For Opening Day

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It's Opening Day for the Minnesota Twins!

The Twins take on the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit. Paul Molitor will walk to home plate as manager for the first time Monday at noon.

But the team will kick off the season without their prize free agent signing, Ervin Santana.

He has been suspended for 80-games for taking a banned steroid substance.

On Sunday, Santana posted a video to Twitter vowing to use this time productively. He says he'll be working with the 'Simon Says' campaign to fight child sex abuse.

Santana signed the highest free-agent contract in Twins history, four years and $55-million.

The Twins home opener is next Monday against the Kansas City Royals.
