Twins Sign Former Players Benson, Mastroianni To Minor League Deals

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have agreed to minor league contracts with former outfielders Joe Benson and Darin Mastroianni, who are among 22 non-roster players invited to big league spring training.

Ten of the players whose agreements were announced Thursday have major league service time. Benson was a second-round draft pick by the Twins in 2006. He debuted in 2011 but was waived less than two years later and has been with four other organizations since then.

Mastroianni played in 121 games for the Twins from 2012-14. He has been with three other organizations since then.
