Twins Option Buxton, Kepler To Rochester; Recall Meyer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Twins announced Monday that they've optioned outfielders Byron Buxton and Max Kepler to Class AAA Rochester.

The Twins also recalled pitcher Alex Meyer and activated outfielder Danny Santana from the 15-day disabled list. Santana had been out with a strained hamstring.

In 17 games, Buxton is hitting just .156 with seven hits in 45 at-bats. Four of the seven hits are doubles, but he has also struck out 24 times. Kepler has seen action in nine games and his hitting just .167 with two hits in 12 at-bats and five strikeouts.

Meyer has gotten off to a strong start pitching in Class AAA Rochester. In three games, he has a 1-1 record with a 1.04 earned run average. Meyer also has 19 strikeouts and just four walks.
