Twins Place Duensing On 15-Day Disabled List

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have placed left-hander Brian Duensing on the 15-day disabled list with a strain of muscles in his rib cage.

The Twins announced on Friday Duensing sustained an intercostal strain the day before during his appearance in the ninth inning against the Kansas City Royals. Duensing has been used as the team's left-handed specialist out of the bullpen.

It's the third setback to Twins pitchers in the first two weeks of the season. Ervin Santana has been suspended for the first 80 games and Ricky Nolasco is on the disabled list with an elbow strain.

The Twins recalled left-hander Caleb Thielbar from Triple-A Rochester to take Duensing's place. Thielbar went 5-4 with a 2.59 ERA in 103 appearances for the Twins over the previous two seasons.
