Twins Hire Cuddyer, Hawkins, Hunter As Special Assistants
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Twins will have some very familiar faces around when the team reports to Spring Training next February.
The Twins announced Monday that they have hired Michael Cuddyer, LaTroy Hawkins and Torii Hunter to the organization as special assistants to baseball operations. They'll be working under Derek Falvey, the chief of baseball operations, and general manager Thad Levine.
All three are very popular names among Twins fans.
Cuddyer, 37, was drafted by the Twins in 1997 and spent 11 Major League season with the Twins. He was on six Twins teams that won division titles and was an All-Star with the Twins in 2011.
Hawkins, 44, was drafted in 1991 by the Twins and spent eight of his 21 Major League seasons in Minnesota. He appeared in 366 games as a pitcher for the Twins. His role will be contributing to the development of pitching philosophies as well as other duties.
Hunter, 41, played 19 Major League seasons that included 12 years with the Twins. He was a key player in center field and was inducted to the Twins Hall of Fame this season. He'll have several roles, most notably restoring a winning culture to the Twins.
