Twins Hire Butch Davis From Orioles Organization

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have filled out their field staff by hiring Butch Davis as first base coach.

Davis spent the last 20 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles organization. His instructional responsibilities with the Twins will include outfield play as well as baserunning and bunting. Davis appeared in 166 major league games from 1983-94, with the Royals, Pirates, Orioles, Dodgers and Rangers. This will be his first major league coaching job.

Davis was the field coach for Double-A Bowie the last two years. He spent most of his time with the Orioles with their Double-A and Triple-A clubs.

The team made the announcement on Monday.
