Twins Call Up Top Pitching Prospect Berrios

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The top pitching prospect for the Minnesota Twins is coming to the big leagues and could soon make his major league debut.

The Minnesota Twins announced before Tuesday's game that they've selected the contract of Jose Berrios and recalled Jorge Polanc from Class AAA Rochester. They will both be in uniform when the Twins host the Indians.

The Twins also announced that Kyle Gibson and Ervin Santana have both been placed on the 15-day disabled list. Santana is dealing with a back injury, and Gibson is suffering from a strained shoulder.

Berrios appears ready to make his major league debut as soon as Wednesday and has through-the-roof potential. He's currently 2-0 at Rochester with a 1.06 earned run average. In 18 innings, he has 20 strikeouts. Between Class AA and AAA last year, he had 175 strikeouts in 166 1/3 innings.
