Twin Cities Unisex Skirt Kickstarter Reaches Funding Goal

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Twin Cities company Skirtcraft surpassed its fundraising goal and will soon launch their brand of unisex skirts.

Skirtcraft manufactures modern, rugged unisex skirts with large pockets, something the founder says many women's skirts are missing.

The founder, Joe Quarion, said the idea came after a coed ultimate Frisbee team decided to wear skirts and dresses for one game a couple of years ago. Quarion said he realized there is no good reason for men not to wear skirts.

The company launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $11,500 so they could manufacture the skirts.

On August 12 they were just a thousand short of their goal. On Monday, Quarion announced they had surpassed the goal on Friday.

The funds will help the Unaligned Skirt would go into production in Los Angeles, as well as establish an online store for ongoing sales.

Quarion announced a stretch goal of $23,000. If the campaign raises the money by 8 p.m. Thursday khaki will be added as a color option.

Supporters who pledged $69 (plus shipping) will receive a skirt from the first production run. Every skirt's tag will have the initials of the first 30 backers woven into it.
