Twin Cities Rank High For Well-Being

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Twin Cities residents have innumerable reasons to feel good about where they live, but it's nice to lay them out in numbers anyway. According to a list of rankings from Gallup and Healthways, the metro area ranks just outside of the top 10 among the country's top cities for overall well-being.

The list was created with information gathered from interviews with more than half a million people, and looked at factors like job satisfaction, health care, physical fitness, and an overall sense of safety and security.

The Twin Cities ranked 13th on the list of cities reflecting a strong sense of well-being. That list was topped by Provo-Orem, Utah. Boulder, Colo. and Fort Collins-Loveland, Colo. were the runners-up.

Duluth ranked 64th on the list.

As for the cities that scored the worst, the Huntington-Ashland area of West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio was at the very bottom of the list, along with Charleston, W.Va., and Redding, Calif.

California had the most communities in the top 10, with San Jose, San Luis Obispo, and San Francisco all earning slots.
