Twin Cities Premium Outlet Mall Opening In Eagan

EAGAN, Minn. (WCCO) -- Twin Cities shoppers who want to go to an outlet mall will soon no longer have to leave the seven-county metro to get there.

Twin Cities Premium Outlets will open next month in Eagan.  The $100 million center is near Highways 13 and Highway 77. The outlet mall, which is set to open Aug. 14, will feature more than 100 new stores. Les Morris, the director of corporate public relations for Simon Property Group, joined the WCCO This Morning show Wednesday to talk about the project.

The new outlet mall is set to open just before the heart of the fall shopping season, especially important as kids get ready to head back to school.

Morris said there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony on the morning of Aug. 14 as part of a four-day event to celebrate the mall's grand opening. The mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday to Saturday that week, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Morris said they've made parking available for as many as 3,000 cars, so the outlet mall is prepared to handle thousands of shoppers. The only other outlet mall that's comparable is in Albertville, which is often too far from the Twin Cities for those who live in the south and east metro.

The projected created 400 construction jobs and 1,600 full and part-time jobs at the stores in the outlet mall.
