Twin Cities Man Killed In Plane Crash In Northern Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Twin Cities man is dead following a plane crash Thursday night in northern Minnesota.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office says that the plane left the Ely Airport around 9 p.m. and crashed into White Iron Lake. It was headed toward the Grand Marais/Cook County Airport.

Killed in the crash was the pilot and only occupant: a 58-year-old man from Woodbury. He died on impact.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
