Twin Cities' June 2nd Wettest On Record

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's been quite the cold and wet month for the Twin Cities, according to weather officials.

WCCO's Mike Augustyniak says that readings at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport confirm that it's been the second wettest June ever in the Twin Cities at 11.36 inches of total precipitation.

The wettest June in the Twin Cities was in 1874, according to the National Weather Service. That year, we measured 11.67 inches of total precipitation.

There have been, however, at least 12 sites across Minnesota that have experienced the wettest June ever. These cities include Ada, Littefork, Kabetogama, Dawson, Chaska, Glencoe, Lakefield, Luverne, Redwood Falls, Spring Field and Waseca.

In addition to record rainfall, June will not record a 90-degree high temperature, which will be the first time that's happened since 2003, the NWS said.
