Trooper Who Died In The Line Of Duty To Be Buried

KIEL, Wis. (AP) — The young trooper killed in a confrontation with a bank robbery suspect in Fond du Lac is being laid to rest.

A private funeral service for Trevor Casper, attended by family and members of the Wisconsin State Patrol will be held Monday in Kiel. A procession of troopers will escort the family from the funeral home to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Hundreds of people packed into the high school in Kiel for a memorial service Sunday. Fellow troopers, police officers, firefighters, EMTs, friends and family gathered to remember the 21-year-old trooper killed just months after graduating from the State Patrol Academy.

The last officers to pay tribute Sunday at the high school were members of Casper's academy graduation class.

Casper died last Tuesday in an exchange of gunfire with Steven Snyder, the man authorities suspect also killed Thomas Christ in Wausaukee hours earlier.
