Police: Pedestrian Struck & Killed By Tractor-Tanker In Owatonna

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-tanker in southern Minnesota Friday morning.

Police say the incident took place at 6:35 a.m. at the intersection of Riverside Avenue and West North Street in Owatonna.

According to police, a five-axle tractor-tanker -- driven by a 56-year-old Kenyon, Minnesota man -- was turning west onto West North Street when he hit a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The driver did not see the pedestrian, police said.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving treatment, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the Owatonna Hospital. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Police say the incident appears accidental. The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
