Towns To Receive Award Before Tuesday's Timberwolves Game

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Before the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Oklahoma City Thunder Tuesday night, rookie Karl-Anthony Towns will be honored by the NBA for a big month of December.

Towns will receive the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award for December. It's his second straight award after receiving it in November.

Towns led all qualified rookies in scoring in December with 18.6 points per game. He also led rookies in rebounding at 9.5 rebounds per game, field goal accuracy (55.3 percent) and minutes played (30.4).

He was also second in blocked shots and third in free-throw percentage. Towns had five games in the month of at least 25 points and 10 rebounds.

The Timberwolves (12-26) host the Thunder (26-12) at 7:10 p.m.
