Towns Earns 3rd Straight Western Conference Rookie Award

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- At the rate Karl-Anthony Towns is going, he'll be the heavy favorite to win the NBA's Rookie of the Year award.

The league announced Tuesday that Towns has been named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for January. It's the third straight month he has gotten the award. He's the second Timberwolves player to win the award in three straight months as Andrew Wiggins won it four straight months last year.

Towns led all active rookies in rebounding (10.9 per game), blocked shots (1.63 per game) and free throw percentage (87.2 percent). He was also second in minutes played (31.2) and points per game (16.9). He had nine double-doubles in January and also had five games of at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.
