Totino-Grace Honors Student Severely Injured In Hockey Game

FRIDLEY, Minn. (WCCO) -- Totino-Grace High School is showing support for a local hockey player who was severely injured in a game a few weeks ago.

Matt Olson played hockey for the Totino-Grace Eagles for four years before he graduated in 2014. He went on to play for the Chicago Cougars in the U.S. Premiere Hockey League. A spinal injury during a hockey game in late February left permanent damage.

On Thursday, students and staff at Totino-Grace came together for "Green and Gold Day." They signed a banner they plan to send to Matt in Chicago and took a group picture.

If you'd like to help Matt's family, Totino-Grace will have a table set up at the State Hockey Tournament, where they'll be collecting donations all week.
