Too Cold To Lay The Ice At TCF Bank Stadium Friday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Crews have been busy putting up the boards at TCF Bank Stadium for the NHL Stadium Series, in order to get the place looking like an ice arena.

The crews will begin laying the ice on Saturday, because it was too cold Friday afternoon. The "feels like" temperature was below zero, so they're taking their time to keep workers safe.

They're also worried the equipment won't work properly in the cold conditions, but they say everything will be good to go next weekend.

NHL alumni play Saturday, then the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks take the ice on Sunday.

When the games are over, the public has a chance to enjoy the rink, like they did after the Hockey City Classic in 2014. You can get an hour of ice time on Feb. 23 for $20, and that includes a snack.
