Timberwolves To Play In New Mexico City Nov. 12

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Thursday they're going to try and play an NBA regular season game for the second time this upcoming season in Mexico City.

The Timberwolves will be the home team when they face the Houston Rockets on Nov. 12 in the Mexico City Arena. It's part of the NBA's Global Games schedule, which also includes a game in London, England between the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks.

Minnesota had been scheduled to play a game against the San Antonio Spurts last season in Mexico City, but the game had to be called off after a fire broke out in the arena and left conditions unsafe for playing. The Timberwolves eventually hosted the Spurs at Target Center.

The NBA's Global Games schedule also includes five preseason games in Brazil, China, Germany and Turkey that will include the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings and Spurs.
