Timberwolves Sign G Othyus Jeffers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday they've signed guard Othyus Jeffers to a contract for the remainder of the 2013-14 season.

Jeffers is expected to be available as the Timberwolves host the San Antonio Spurs Tuesday night in a game that was supposed to be played in Mexico City. That game had to be called off after smoke damage caused by a fire in the arena.

Jeffers, a 6-5 guard, played in six preseason games with the Timberwolves this year. He averaged 4.3 points and 3.5 rebounds while averaging more than 14 minutes per game. He spend a majority of the season playing for the Iowa Energy of the NBDL, where he averaged 20.9 points and 9.9 rebounds in more than 37 minutes per game.

With the signing, the Timberwolves roster stands at 15 players with six games left.
