Timberwolves' Pekovic To Miss 2016-17 Season

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Sunday that center Nikola Pekovic will miss the entire 2016-17 season due to recurring right ankle pain.

Pekovic battled injuries throughout most of his six seasons with the Timberwolves. Minnesota took Pekovic with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. For his career, Pekovic is averaging 12.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 24.9 minutes per game.

Timberwolves officials said a determination about his future with the team will be made at a later date.

Pekovic played just 12 games last year for the Timberwolves, averaging 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
