Timberwolves Expecting Big Turnout For Summer Showcase

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves are expecting a large turnout at Target Center Wednesday night as the team is hosting a Summer Showcase ahead of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The team is hosting an open scrimmage to the general public, and admission is free. Officials said as many as 10,000 fans are expected to turnout for the event, which will feature many of the team's new young players.

The roster for Wednesday's scrimmage will include the team's two first-round draft picks this year, No. 1 overall selection Karl-Anthony Towns and Minnesota native Tyus Jones, who they got in a trade for the No. 24 overall pick. Other players who will be in action include Zach LaVine, Andrew Wiggins and Adreian Payne.

The Target Center doors will open at 6 p.m. for season members and 6:30 p.m. for the general public. The scrimmage will start at 7 p.m. You don't need a ticket to get in, just show up.

The Timberwolves have been busy with minicamp this week and have their first NBA Summer League game Friday night.
