Timberwolves Caravan Starts Aug. 4 In Alexandria

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to get their annual caravan started across the state as they embark on a new era in the organization.

The Timberwolves Caravan, headlined by Minnesota native Tyus Jones, takes off on Tuesday, Aug. 4 as it heads to Alexandria for an event from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday's event is at the Alexandrai Area YMCA.

The following day, the Timberwolves will be at the Bresnan Arena Taylor Center in Mankato. On Thursday, Aug. 6, it will be at the Rochester Family YMCA. Those events are both also from 9:30 to 11 a.m. All the caravan events include a free clinic with Jones for kids ages 5 to 18 and an appearance from mascot "Crunch."

Jones will be joined by Timberwolves coaches Sam Mitchell and Ryan Saunders. The Timberwolves acquired Jones, who was a high school star in Apple Valley, by trading their two second-round picks and a future draft pick to Cleveland for his rights on the night of the NBA Draft.
