Thousands without power in St. Paul Wednesday morning

WCCO digital update: Morning of Aug. 23, 2023

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Thousands of Xcel Energy customers were without power in St. Paul Wednesday morning.

According to Xcel's outage map, there were more than 3,000 customers without power at about 6 a.m.

Xcel said most power would be restored by 6:30 a.m. At 3:30 p.m., there were less than 10 customers in the area still without power.

"Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible," Xcel said.

The cause of the outage is unclear.
