Teen's Body Pulled From Carver County Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Rescue crews recovered the body of a Norwood Young America teen from a Carver County lake late Friday evening.

The sheriff's office received a report at about 7:30 p.m. that a teen swimming in Eagle Lake near Baylor Regional Park went underwater and never resurfaced.

Deputies and fire crews from neighboring cities searched for hours. At about midnight, a dive team found the body 16-year-old Davis Colley.

Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud from the Carver County Sheriff's Office says he's unsure if this case is connected to a social-media trend called the "Cold Water Challenge."

"We don't have any information to believe this is similar to those other incidents where the kids are jumping in the water, in as much as we would've expected someone to be here to take photographs of him," Kamerud said. "There was nobody else here with him that we could locate."

Colley was a sophomore at Central High School in Norwood Young America, which is about 40 miles southwest of Minneapolis.
