Teen Pleads Guilty In Distracted Driving Crash That Killed 2

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A teenager has pleaded guilty in a distracted driving crash last July that killed a father and his young daughter.

Carlee Rose Bollig, of Little Falls, pleaded guilty last week to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, according to court officials in Sherburne County.

Police said Bollig, who was 17 at the time of the crash, was posting to Facebook seconds before she blew through a red light on July 21 at the intersection of Highway 10 and Sherburne County Road 11.

The crash killed Charles Mauer, of Becker, and his 10-year-old daughter, Cassy. Two other children were also hurt.

Initially, Bollig's boyfriend told investigators he was behind the wheel to protect his girlfriend, who didn't have a valid driver's license. Other passengers later told authorities that Bollig was the driver.

A criminal complaint says her passengers told her several times to stop using her phone that day, but she refused.

Bollig's sentencing is slated for March 4.
