Teen Killed In Dodge County Rollover Crash ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An 18-year-old Dodge Center man who was killed in a rollover crash Friday afternoon has been identified.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Logan Maas died when the Ford Taurus he was in went off the road on 275th Avenue, just north of Dodge County Road 5, near Pine Island.

The car rolled into a ditch and three of the four passengers were ejected -- including Maas. Only one passenger was wearing a seat belt.

Two girls who were thrown from the car -- ages 15 and 17 -- were taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries. None of their identities or conditions has been released.

The Dodge Center Fire Department is asking for people to donate to this GoFundMe page to help Maas' family. He was a volunteer firefighter, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, and serving alongside his father.

Family said Maas was planning on joining the Marine Corps after high school, and was a standout firefighter in Dodge Center.

"He'd jump into absolutely everything, without question." Fire Chief Dave Kenworthy said.

Kenworthy says for the last two years, Logan Maas was the only teen training to fight fires in Dodge Center.

"I feel almost as if he's one of my own kids, so it hurts a lot," Kenworthy said.

Brett Joyce, the superintendent of Triton Public Schools, confirmed that Maas went to Triton High School. He says they plan to hold a memorial service for Maas, who was from Dodge Center, on Monday.

The state patrol is investigating.
