Ted Nugent Expresses Support For Man Who Killed Lion

NEW YORK (AP) — Rocker Ted Nugent says he supports an American dentist who killed a protected lion in Zimbabwe.

In an interview with the Rita Cosby Show on WABC radio in New York, Nugent railed against people who are upset about the killing, saying the outrage is because the lion was given a name, Cecil. He said getting upset about Cecil but not other lions "is disingenuous and tragically dishonest."

Zimbabwean conservationists say Walter James Palmer of Minnesota is believed to have shot the lion with a bow after it was lured onto private land with an animal carcass laid out on a car. They say that some 40 hours later the wounded cat was tracked down and Palmer allegedly killed it with a gun.

Nugent said he doesn't believe that account.
