Target Will Close 11 Stores, Including One In Austin

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Target will close 11 stores nationwide, including one in Austin, Minn., and one in Clinton, Iowa, the company announced Monday.

Target will close the stores on Feb. 1, the first day of the company's fiscal year.

The Minneapolis-based company has more than 1,800 locations in the United States, and 133 in Canada.

"The decision to close a Target store is only made after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location," Target said in a release. "All eligible store team members are being offered the option to transfer to other Target stores. Team members who choose not to transfer will be offered a separation package."

In addition to the Minnesota and Iowa locations, Target is also closing three stores in Michigan, two in Illinois, and one in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas and Texas.
