Target To Open Uptown Location

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Target is coming to Uptown!

On Friday, the Minneapolis-based retailer announced it will open a store on Fremont Avenue, in between Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue, in Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood.

The new store will be one of what the company is calling its "fleixble-format stores."

The flexible-format layout helps Target customize locations to serve dense urban neighborhoods. There are currently two flexible-format stores open in the Twin Cities, one in Dinkytown and one in St. Paul's Highland Park neighborhood.

The Uptown store will be 21,400-square feet on one level and will include apparel, accessories, personal care, groceries and other family needs. It will also  have a pharmacy, Target Mobile, order pickup and self-checkout lanes.

The store is set to open in fall of 2017.

Currently, 18 flexible format stores are open nationwide. Target plans to open 15 more in the next two years.
