Target Applies For Liquor License For Downtown Mpls. Location

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- You may soon be able to buy liquor at Target's flagship store in downtown Minneapolis.

Last week, Target Corporation applied for an off-sale liquor license for its Nicollet Mall location. The liquor store would replace the previous food restaurant.

A public hearing on the proposed license will be held on March 28. The Licenses and Consumer Services Division has already recommended approving the application.

Target has seven other Wine & Spirits stores in Minnesota, and 1,350 of its stores sell alcohol in 38 states. Target began selling alcohol in certain stores in 1996.

Target opened the downtown location in 2001.
