Target Buys Up Unwanted Gift Cards

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Receive a gift card to a store or restaurant you just don't frequent? Head to Target! The Minneapolis-based retailer announced it will buy unwanted gift cards this holiday season.

The company is partnering with the gift card exchange website Cardpool, and electronic trade-in company Nextworth.

Cardpool provides the trade-in rate of consumers' gift cards and then re-sells them. For example, a $100 Walmart gift card would exchange for and $85 Target card.

More than 600 brands, such as Old Navy, Staples and Pottery Barn, are included in all.
