Tap Talk: Lakes & Legends Turns State Fair Corn Into Beer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Can't get enough of sweet corn at the Minnesota State Fair?

Well, good news! Now there is one more way you can consume the fair favorite – in liquid form!

Lakes and Legends Brewing Company is creating a Sweet Corn Summer Ale special for the Great Minnesota Get Together.

The light summer beer is brewed with sweet corn from Untiedt's Vegetable Farm in Monticello, the same corn that is served at the Corn Roast.

"The corn adds a light sweetness flavor to a refreshing light beer, making it perfect for hot summer fair days," CEO Ethan Applen said.

The Sweet Corn Summer Ale will be exclusively sold at O'Gara's at the Fair. O'Gara's is located on the southwest corner of Dan Path Avenue and Cosgrove Street near the main entrance on Snelling Avenue.

This follows Lakes and Legends practice of working with local farms and produce. Last year, they made a cranberry beer from cranberries harvested near Aitkin.

The Minnesota State Fair starts Aug. 25 and runs through Sept. 5!
