Tap Talk: Duluth Named No. 5 Beer Town In U.S. For Oktoberfest

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Ziggy zaggy! Duluth has been nationally-recognized as one of the best towns to celebrate Oktoberfest – outside of Germany, of course.

In Trulia's list for "America's Best Beer Towns for Celebrating Oktoberfest", Duluth takes home the No. 5 rank.

The online residential real estate site looked at U.S. metros over 100,000 people and which have the most breweries, bars and bottle shops per household, as well as census info on which metros have the highest share of people who self-identify as having primary German ancestry.

According to Trulia, it's no surprise that the top five cities are smaller metro areas.

"The best place to be is in smaller metro areas, where your beer sources are plenty and the homes are cheap," the website states.

Coming in first is Traverse City, Michigan, and second place belongs to Bend-Redmond, Oregon. Check out the list and its other fun findings here.
