Reward Offered To Find Suspect In Wobegon Trail Bridge Arson

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A $5,000 reward is being offered to find a suspect responsible for a fire set Saturday on the Wobegon Trail Bridge in Albany Township, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called at about 5:33 p.m. Saturday after a bicyclist reported the bridge to be on fire. Local agencies responded and were able to extinguish the blaze. Authorities said the Wobegon Trail was temporarily closed while the fire investigation was in its initial stages.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources inspected the bridge and determined it is safe for travel. It will reopen.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is providing assistance to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office in the case. Authorities have determined that the cause of the fire is arson. The Minnesota Arson Reward Project is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the incident.
