Suspect In Hospital After St. Paul Officer-Involved Shooting

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- St. Paul Police say they are investigating after an officer-involved shooting left one person hospitalized Friday morning.

According to the police department, the shooting happened on the 600 block of East Maryland Avenue at about 10 a.m.

SWAT team officers were on hand to arrest a 37-year-old St. Paul man in connection with an aggravated assault that happened Tuesday afternoon near Edgerton Street and Maryland Avenue.

When officers entered the residence, the suspect fired at them, according to police. He was in turn shot in the arm by an officer and taken into custody.

Officials said the man was being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Regions Hospital as of Friday afternoon.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The suspect has not been identified by authorities, but they asking for the public's help with information concerning Tuesday's aggravated assault incident.
