Suspect In Deathly Eastern ND Assault Arrested

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The suspect in a deathly assault in eastern North Dakota in November has been arrested on a manslaughter charge.

Lt. Joel Vettel with the Fargo Police Department says the male suspect was arrested Wednesday in connection with the Nov. 26 assault that led to the death of 54-year-old Mario Perez. The suspect is at a Minnesota jail awaiting extradition to North Dakota.

Perez died about two weeks after emergency personnel found him unconscious with serious head injuries at an unlocked apartment in Fargo. Interim Police Chief Dave Todd at the time said Perez was new to the area and did not have a permanent address.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive.
