Survey: More Americans Prefer 'Experience' Gifts Over Presents

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Still looking for the perfect gift for someone on your list? Consider this: More Americans value experiences over the perfectly-wrapped present.

A recent survey by market research firm Mintel found that about 50 percent of consumers preferred an experience gift over a tangible item.

That could be a night out, tickets to a concert or a trip.

That's a big increase from last year, when about 17 percent held the same sentiment.
