Survey: Minn. Doctors Worry About Abuse Of Medical Marijuana

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota doctors are reluctant to accept medical marijuana as a treatment option, according to a new survey.

The survey, conducted by Minnesota's task force on medical cannabis therapeutic research, was given to 262 doctors from four different institutions across the state.

It found the majority of the doctors think qualifying conditions need to be clearer and that there is a lot of worry about abuse of the marijuana.

Right now, there are 479 doctors registered and authorized to certify patients who qualify for medical marijuana.

Since the program began in July, 844 patients have been approved to get the drug.

For a list of the qualifying conditions and more information on Minnesota's medical marijuana program, visit the Minnesota Department of Health online.
