Sunday Sales Of Beer Growlers A No-Go

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Sunday liquor sales advocates are regrouping after a setback at the Minnesota Capitol.

A provision that would have let taprooms sell growlers on Sundays was stripped Monday from a broader liquor bill in the Senate Tax Committee. Growlers are refillable bottles that may be taken away.

Sen. Roger Reinert, a Duluth Democrat sponsoring the legislation, said he would focus on making the idea a fall campaign issue to build momentum for next year.

The provision was removed by voice vote after officials from the Teamsters Union said the Sunday growler sales would require reopening their contracts with distributors.
