Sun Country May Offer Nonstop Flights From Minneapolis To Cuba

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Flying nonstop from Minneapolis to Cuba? It's now possible.

That's if the federal government approves a request from Sun Country Airlines. Twin Cities-based Sun Country Airlines is trying to make that happen, bidding on four possible flights, two nonstops and two that would involve a stop in Fort Myers.

It's the only one bidding for a nonstop flight between Minnesota and Cuba.  Federal transportation officials will assign 110 routes between the airlines, but just 20 will go to Cuba's capital city.

The remaining routes will be to Cuba's nine other international airports.
