State Patrol: More Than 1,300 DWI Arrests This Summer
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol is reminding drivers of the consequences of drunk driving following a spike in arrests this summer.

More than 300 law enforcement agencies added extra patrols from Aug. 19 through Sept. 5.
Lt. Heath Dienger says there were more than 1,300 DWI arrests across the state.
"DWI consequences, you're talking about a loss of license for up to a year, you know, thousands of dollars in costs and possible jail time," Dienger said. "Repeat DWI offenders … they end up with ignition interlock, as well as the special series license plates."
Lt. Dienger says the state patrol relies on the community's help through their "Say Something" campaign. If you witness impaired-driving behavior, call 911.
